MagnaFlow’s Top 5 Mods For Your New Nissan Titan XD Diesel: How to go from a work truck to a truck that works

Nissan’s newest generation Titan made waves when it was introduced in 2016 with its brand new Cummins-designed V8 diesel engine. Finally, Japanese trucks would be able to compete more fully with their American rivals. The engine was well received as was the new chassis, but as is typically the case with modern vehicles, a lot was left on the table in terms of on and off-road performance. We’re here to give you the top five modifications that we’d make to our diesel Titan pretty much immediately after taking delivery. Enjoy!

1. Hellwig Suspension
Hellwig Suspension Products is a family-owned company based in California (much like MagnaFlow) that has been building super high quality suspension components for cars, trucks, RVs and heavy duty fleet vehicles in America for over 70 years. They have a whole host of components designed to improve the ride and handling of the diesel Titan including helper springs, sway bars and of course air bags. They are so dedicated to the Titan platform that they actually built one for the 2016 SEMA show with a camper and all kinds of overlanding gear. Their 2-leaf helper springs (P/N EZ-990) in particular help to make a loaded truck feel safe and planted.

2. Fab Fours Bumpers
Fab Fours is known as being a purveyor of some serious off-road accessories for Jeeps and a whole host of other American marques but they’ve jumped headfirst into the Titan market with a selection of front and rear bumpers designed to take real punishment whether you’re on the trail or at the mall. Their Elite series bumpers in particular suit the lines of the Titan and give you a great place to mount additional lighting and a winch.

3. MagnaFlow exhaust
Come on, you saw this coming. Our stainless steel DPF-back system for the Titan XD is available with either a four inch (P/N 17865) or five inch (P/N 17866) intercooled tip and will help to free up some additional power and torque from your 5.0-liter Cummins. The system, like all our stainless exhaust systems, features a limited lifetime warranty and is fully emissions compliant. It’s also going to give your Titan the aggressive sound that it truly deserves without being too loud to enjoy on a daily basis. It’s a win-win situation.

4. Method Wheels
Method makes some of the toughest and best looking off-road wheels on the market and they offer them in sizes that will give you maximum tire choice. We love the Roost wheel from Method. Its classic yet aggressive styling will make your Titan XD look the business and is unlikely to leave you stranded in the wilderness with a bent or broken rim. They’re also pretty cost effective when compared to some other custom options. Give them a look, they’re great.

5. Nitto Ridge Grappler
The Ridge Grappler is a great every day tire that combines the super aggressive look of a mud terrain tire with the easy-to-live-with road manners of an all-terrain tire. These things are awesome in the mud and rocks and while we wouldn’t necessarily run the King Of The Hammers on a set, we’d do just about anything else. They’re a perfect match for the Titan. They’re also available in a wide variety of sizes so no matter what rig and wheel combination you’re running, you’ll be able to find something that will work from both a performance and aesthetic standpoint.
